Failproof Beginner Brownies

Four basic steps to brownie bliss that anyone can master.

Brownies are my favourite sweet treat, and I love them warm! Microwaving supermarket brownies doesn’t quite have the same effect though. A lot of brownie recipes call for a lot of ingredients and separate mixing, as well as a few techniques that just aren’t suitable for beginner bakers, so I thought I’d share my go-to recipe for when I’m time poor and looking for a no-fuss treat!

Best Brownie Recipe for Beginners

This recipe is best suited to a standard 23cm rectangle baking tin and serves 6 – or just me.

2 cups of white sugar
250 grams of butter
1/2 a cup of cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
4 eggs1 1/2 cups of plain flour
1/2 a teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 a teaspoon of salt
*optional* Nuts and/or Choc Chips

A few notes to make here. I used table spread instead of butter because it’s all I had on hand. Tasted fine. I also used imitation vanilla essence because I’m a budget kinda gal. It also tasted fine.

1. Melt the butter
2. Mix ingredients into a mixing bowl, in the order they are listed; add some nuts or choc chips if you want to
3. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 20 – 30 minutes

Yeah, that’s it. Well, leave to stand for about an hour if you can help yourself. They also taste better the next day.. or so I’ve heard, mine never make it past 15 minutes.

Until next time, Rosa
