Travel Tuesday: Sri Lanka Vacation Bucketlist

I've decided that 2021 is going to be the year I step out in true digital nomad style, and start international travel while I work. Of course, I'll be documenting it all here.

In the meantime, I'll be using Tuesday's to compile my digital itinerary in the form of bucket lists! Read on for some info on each piece, and scroll to the bottom for a pinnable version if you want to save and follow my itinerary!

Yala National Park - Pre-sunrise Safari

There's not a lot of things I want to do before sunrise, but visiting Yala National Park at this time gives you some pretty good odds of seeing both elephants and leopards!
One of my favourite things about Sri Lanka is that there are areas developing into tourist hot spots, but despite this it is still drenched in its own culture - but I'm not going to lie, the multiple places and opportunities to see wild elephants in their natural setting is one of the factors that rocketed Sri Lanka to the top of my 'first to visit' list. Yala National Park is just the beginning!

Dambulla Cave Temple

The history and mere presence of Dambulla temple will blow your mind, and through my journey of understanding religion and spirituality, I feel as though this destination is going to be a game changer. If you haven't seen or heard of this place, I'd recommend having a read here.

Visit Lipton's Seat

Aside for the aw inspiring view that this offers, Lipton's Seat is where Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to observe his empire from. Once you're here, you can get a tuk tuk around a Tea Plantation and get a glimpse of the colonial times in Sri Lanka

A Palm Tree Swing

I haven't decided exactly where I'm going to do this one as there are so many options - but hopefully in 2021 I'll be back with a recommendation (and proof I actually did it).

Stay a Day: Negombo

Street food and the famous Negombo beach - this place is a must see for any traveller!

Safari in Udawalawe National Park

More elephants, surprise! Udawalawe National Park is another elephant hot spot, and this park is a sanctuary, apparently so peaceful to visit.

Since I only plan on going for around 8 days, this will fill my time with hopefully a little left to wander! Then I'll be able to update you on my hidden finds and you can update your itinerary accordingly.

Want to save this one? Pin it!
